I Wish I was a Cowgirl!

I think I am a little bit Texan.

I just got back from San Antonio on Saturday. I love Texas, margaritas, and Tex Mex food. I knew that I was fan of margaritas and Tex Mex; however, I was unaware of my love for Texas. It was really fun just walking around the Riverwalk and the downtown area. Plus, the fact that I was desperately in need of a vacation didn't hurt either! I have more pictures of the vaca on Facebook... so check it out!

Now that I am back from San Antonio, I'm back to work! I don't mind working and I am grateful to have a job for the summer, but it does really stink being so far away from Mark. Mark will be working at FSU this summer, so we will still be 4 1/2 hours away from each other. It's not any different from the how things have been the past year, but still...what a bummer!

Speaking of being far from those I love, it makes me super sad that I will miss seeing my little sister going to prom. Hollidaysburg High School has prom this Friday, and I wish I could be there to help her get ready and see her off! Sometimes it is hard being so far away because I have to miss out on things which I hate! I will be in Hburg in July, and I can't wait to catch up with friends and family (and see Bonnie's new house!!!!).

An update on my running progress.... I did lots of walking in San Antonio, but not so much running unfortunately. This week is going well with my running plan. I am doing interval training with running and walking. I really want to work out in the morning before I go to work, but I have such a hard time dragging myself out of bed to run. I'll set my alarm for the morning, and then in the morning the snooze button is my best friend. Any suggestions?

I know it is only Wednesday, but I am already getting excited for the weekend. I am going to Tallahassee for Memorial Day weekend and I'm hoping that some barbeque's and relaxing are in my future!

Have a great rest of the week everyone! I'll update again soon! :)

Summer

I am officially done with my first year of graduate school. Woohoo!

Now that school is done for the summer I am not quite sure what to do with myself! I am so used to school consuming my life for the past few months that this "free time" thing is a little new to me! I really need to do some awesome stuff this summer because next summer I will be what I refer to as a "real person" (aka not a student). Additionally, Mark and I are getting married next June which makes me a married "real person"... yikes! Before summer really gets underway, I am going to make a few summer goals. Throughout the summer I will continue to update my goals and write about what I have done and accomplished.

Sarah's Summer Goals:

1) I will explore Atlanta.

I have been living in the ALT where the playas play for almost a year now and have not seen much besides Emory's campus and a few fun spots. I need to go to the aquarium, a Braves Game (sorry Mark), the CNN center, and the Botanical Garden to name a few. Luckily, I will have a partner in crime while exploring the ATL when Claire is in town! If anyone would like to come visit or go exploring let me know!

2) I will get in shape this summer.

I will be eating healthy and working out and then the school stuff starts to pile up, and the first thing that gets knocked off my to-do list is working out. WHY?! I know this is a common problem, and it definitely something that I struggle with often. I just started a Runner's World workout program... today is Day #2! I haven't been running for like 3 weeks! (Since Derka chewed my nike ipod thing...). I am thinking about signing up for a 5k in August to give me so extra motivation. Of course, letting everyone know is motivation too :)

3) I will plan a wedding this summer.

I just looked at the countdown. 402 days until the wedding. That seems like a lot, but I'm sure it'll fly by. There is lots to do - invites, dj, flowers, dresses, all the traditional wedding preparations. It'll be fun, I just have to really work on it!

I think those are my 3 main summer goals. I am hoping to get some volunteering and relaxing in there. If anyone has suggestions of a good book to read, let me know!

What is everyone else up to this summer?
