Derka had a relapse. Twice.

Derka loves gum. I don't know why, but she absoluely loves it. If you are chewing gum, you are her new best friend. If there is gum in your house, she will find it. This is a problem because I also like gum. I have tried to hide it from her, keep it in my backpack or purse, have it somewhere she can't possibly reach it, and so on and that has worked for a while. I thought she had quit the gum habit, but then she relapsed...twice... in less than 2 days!

Derka is too clever. The past two mornings (Tuesday and Wednesday) have been fairly similar in her methodology. She waits until I get in the shower and then the gum searching is on. Tuesday it was watermelon gum from my backpack and Wednesday it was cinnamon gum from my purse. She doesn't take anything else out of my backpack or purse, everything else is left untouched. When I get out of the shower, she is right where she was when I went into the bathroom - laying on the couch. I knew something was up when she was looking a little too innocent. I look around and find the evidence - the torn up gum package and a few wrappers that she had to get through to get to the gum. Oooh Derka.

What I don't get is:
1) Why is she obsessed with gum? She doesn't chew it, she quickly inhales it (I'm not in the shower for that long!)

2) How does she know where it is? Does she remember where I put it and then wait for her opportunity to attack?

3) Does gum stay in a dog's stomach for 7 human years or 7 dog years?

Whatever the case, there is no chance for relapse #3... the gum is gone.

Perms and Wedding Dresses.

I want to order a wedding dress online.

I'm not kidding. I love this dress (Somehow it is exactly what I want even without knowing what that looked like!). I found this dress while searching for ideas and inspiration, but I really think this is the dress. I would need to order it online (or visit the boutique in CA) by sending in my measurements. Has anyone ever ordered a wedding dress online or know some who has? Any advice would be appreciated!

My current predicament is further complicated by the fact that I can sometimes be an impulsive person. Part of me wants to order the dress RIGHT NOW, but this impulsiveness has gotten me in trouble in the past and I don't want to add my wedding dress to this list. Because some of my impulsive decisions are quite funny now (after the fact), I figured this would be an appropriate time for a trip down memory lane...

My all time favorite impulse decision is when I got a perm. No.. not like my mom made me get a perm when I was 5... Sarah voluntarily got a perm at the age of 20. 20!!! Who even gets perms post 1987? So anyways, I thought it was a brilliant idea to get a perm, and I pictured myself looking like Kate Hudson afterwards with those beautiful beach goddess waves.

However, below is a picture of me with one of my college roommates. My hair is not at all Kate Hudson. I spent hours straightening my hair to hide it from my mom (and that "I told you so" response that I just couldn't handle!) and finally ended up chemically straightening my hair with a boxed hair kit from Walmart. Those bangs have never been the same since...

My second favorite impulse decision is when I had to get a pet bunny. I had a hard time finding a picture of the little Trixie (here she is with my friend, Carlos). Long story short, it was Easter, I needed a bunny, and then my roommate was allergic/we couldn't handle the little gal. Plus, she chewed up the drawstrings on like all my sweatpants. The story does have a happy ending though... After surviving college life (and almost being named "Pants" - I don't remember why?) Trixie got a new home with my grandparents where she is very happy and spoiled.

My latest impulse decision?

Marrying this guy!

haha JUST KIDDING! (love you!)

But lets not have any impulse decisions in the wedding! Give me advice about ording a wedding dress online ...before it's too late! :)

When there is a will, there's a blog!

Okay... so I have started a blog before. Twice actually. I don't think I really posted on either, so actually writing a post is a change for me. I have had trouble committing to a title, which I think is the real problem. However, my canine companion, Derka, really does eat everything, and she would eat this blog if given the chance; therefore, this title may be appropriate. Recently she ate half the comcast remote and had a box of crayons for dessert.

So anyways... I really want to blog, and I will!
What is different about this time you ask? Is it because Bonnie is forcing me? Maybe! (hehe I love it! Thanks for the help!) Or is it because I am avoiding the overwhelming amount of school work facing me? Probably! I have a final today, tomorrow, and Wednesday as well as a few projects to finish up, and blogging seems much more exciting than studying biostatistics and epidemiology (sorry all you epi and biostats kids!). Whatever the reasoning, I am blogging, so get ready!

So welcome to my blog! I will write a better introduction later, but I had to write Post #1 before this blog became just another empty title on my Blogger Dashboard!
