Derka loves gum. I don't know why, but she absoluely loves it. If you are chewing gum, you are her new best friend. If there is gum in your house, she will find it. This is a problem because I also like gum. I have tried to hide it from her, keep it in my backpack or purse, have it somewhere she can't possibly reach it, and so on and that has worked for a while. I thought she had quit the gum habit, but then she relapsed...twice... in less than 2 days!
Derka is too clever. The past two mornings (Tuesday and Wednesday) have been fairly similar in her methodology. She waits until I get in the shower and then the gum searching is on. Tuesday it was watermelon gum from my backpack and Wednesday it was cinnamon gum from my purse. She doesn't take anything else out of my backpack or purse, everything else is left untouched. When I get out of the shower, she is right where she was when I went into the bathroom - laying on the couch. I knew something was up when she was looking a little too innocent. I look around and find the evidence - the torn up gum package and a few wrappers that she had to get through to get to the gum. Oooh Derka.
What I don't get is:
1) Why is she obsessed with gum? She doesn't chew it, she quickly inhales it (I'm not in the shower for that long!)
2) How does she know where it is? Does she remember where I put it and then wait for her opportunity to attack?
3) Does gum stay in a dog's stomach for 7 human years or 7 dog years?
Whatever the case, there is no chance for relapse #3... the gum is gone.
So This is Christmas...

Derka is absolutely hilarious!
Sorry about the gum. You need a puppy-proof place to put it!
I dont know if I am going to chemically straighten my hair or not. I blow dry it and use a flat iron for liek 15 minutes. It isn't as tight as it was before.
When will I see you next?
